As a cat owner, I can confirm 50% of the time I am kissing my cats soft head and telling her how much she means me, and the other 50% I’m angrily telling her not to eat plastic

I used to think it was important to have common interests with the person that you are in a relationship with but now I think it is more important to be similar in other aspects. like how kind you are. how you treat the people you care about, how you treat strangers. how you deal with anger. how you deal with pain. and not necessarily dealing with all these things the same way but being perseptive enough to understand what action each situation calls for. it’s important for both people to be on the same page about what that action should be. it’s important to me to have that kind of synchrony.

Women not being allowed female separatist spaces is misogyny. Women being asked to include everyone in their own struggle is misogyny. Women being told “woman” doesn’t mean anything and in fact is nothing but an identity anyone can identify into and out of is misogyny. Women being told to center men in feminism is misogyny. Women being silenced because they are female is misogyny.

Patriarchy silences women. Patriarchy teaches women they must prioritize, center and please others. Patriarchy tells women being a female human being is nothing, nothing to be proud over, nothing of value. Patriarchy makes all this seem natural, patriarchy normalizes women’s subordinatjon - and it can do so even within the feminist movement if we allow it. We mustn’t fool ourselves on this.

Men who ask “why must everything be a competition for you feminists?” whenever they see celebration for a woman’s achievements: you created this game just so you could rig it and then you shrugged us off as sore losers, but when someone breaks through your rules you’re like “whatever, this game is for BABIES anyway” lol

    Happy Indigenous Peoples Day!

    yesstrongwomen:

Across the United States, there are 556 federally recognized American Indian and Alaska Native nations. Each one has it’s own unique history and culture. American education has not bothered to tell us that Native people lived in peace and effectively governed themselves before the Europeans came along. American education has not informed us that Native Americans have been slighted ever since, not even being recognized as citizens (despite the fact that they were here first) until the 20th century.

But we don’t have to push these facts aside. We can stop celebrating a man that began a genocide and a terrible theft of land and culture, and start celebrating Indigenous Peoples for their rich history and their equal contributions to society.

To all Indigenous Peoples out there: we’re glad you’re here!

We will stand with you in your continued battle to be recognized as legitimate human beings instead of the stereotypes perpetuated by Columbus and those that came after him.

i feel like slughorn is a MUCH better example of a flawed but lovable character than snape and yet here we are

slughorn says stupid crap like expressing shock that muggleborn wizards and witches can be so talented but he also treats all his students equally in terms of academics, point distribution and desire to educate. the slug club is an example of his slytherin ambition but literally all he seems to want is like. to have his letters read and some free candy and to live comfortably. he loves his students a lot and actively avoids associating with death eaters. he believes in merit above all and is wowed by skill and character regardless of blood status or background. hes a nice flawed old man and hes way better than snape i dont CARE we stan the real potions master

slughorn pineapple potter, you’re named after the okayest man i ever knew
